Peru cancels its second anchovy season: fishmeal against soybean meal, October 2026
Exposed · Operational, local · evidenced · Heat, 2026-10-16
“The government introduced a fishing ban from the start of May due to the high share of juveniles and the rising seawater temperature (El Niño)” — source, 2026-11-03
Its parent's Q2 2026 report shows Austral's first 2026 season cut short by El Niño and juveniles, with raw material intake down sharply year on year. The same report says the second-season quota depended on El Niño; that it has now been cancelled is from the PRODUCE note, not this report.
