Hormuz disruption, Qatari LNG and European gas and power, January–October 2026

Exposed · Supply chain · evidenced · Supply shock, 2026-09-24

“As a result, a total of 29 LNG cargoes is now subject to force majeure over this period, representing a total volume of approximately 3.8 billion cubic meters of natural gas. Edison confirms its capability to source alternative gas for all its customers and to fully honor the commercial commitments it has undertaken.” — source, 2026-10-23

Edison's own release shows 29 Qatari cargoes (about 3.8 bcm) lost between April and early November 2026 under its 6.4 bcm/yr contract, and that it is buying replacement gas. The cost of that replacement relative to the contract price is not disclosed and is inferred to be higher.
