Grain-drying propane in the western Corn Belt: a late, wet Iowa harvest meets record US propane exports and lower Midwest stocks, autumn 2026
Adjacent · Operational, local · evidenced · Demand shock, 2026-10-07
“Since most farm dryers and some elevator dryers operate on propane gas (LP), the LP distribution backup has caused wet corn to be held, either in storage, or in the field.” — source, 2026-11-04
The 2019 extension note shows that propane delivery backlogs held wet corn in Iowa fields and bins. It documents the mechanism of this signal in an earlier year; 2026 corn moisture is not shown.
